💥 SCROLL DOWN FOR ENGLISH
Καλώς ήρθατε στο πρώτο newsletter του Greek Visions! Εδώ Τάκης και Κάλλια.
Από σήμερα και κάθε δυο βδομάδες, θα μοιραζόμαστε προτάσεις, πράγματα που μας αρέσουν (ή δε μας αρέσουν), αλλά και ό,τι άλλο μας κατέβει στο μυαλό.
💿 Discogs Rabbit Holes
Πολλοί δεν το γνωρίζουν, αλλά το Greek Visions έχει τη βάση του στο Λονδίνο.
Αναζητώντας λοιπόν καινούριο υλικό για τη σελίδα, ξεκίνησα να ψάχνω στο Discogs για ελληνικούς δίσκους διαθέσιμους στην Αγγλία. Αυτό με έχει οδηγήσει σε διάφορα rabbit holes που ίσως να μην έμπαινα ποτέ.
Έχω βρει πολλά διαμάντια, και το τελευταίο LP που βρήκα είναι το Ηρακλής - Σε ‘Αλλους Κόσμους, ένα εξαιρετικό psychedelic rock album του 1976 με ηλεκτρονικά στοιχεία.
🥐 Amsterdam
Πήγαμε στο Άμστερνταμ για Σαββατοκύριακο. Δεν κάναμε ποδήλατο, δεν ήπιαμε μπάφους, φάγαμε όμως πατάτες με σως φυστίκι και fancy pastries από το Saint-Jean.
Το highlight του ταξιδιού ήταν το live των Bring Me The Horizon στο 17 χιλιάδων θέσεων Ziggo Dome.
Έχουμε δει τους BMTH πολλές φορές από την εποχή που παίζανε deathcore μέχρι και ΣήΜ3Ρα (και ανά περιόδους τους άκουγαμε είτε στα σοβαρά είτε σαν guilty pleasure). Το live ήταν διασκεδαστικό και τα stage visuals ήταν πραγματικά φοβερά.
📲 Οργάνωση
Στο κινητό μου έχω 79 tabs ανοιχτά με active searches για το Greek Visions. Ό,τι βρίσκω και μου τραβάει την προσοχή, το ψάχνω επιτόπου γιατί μπορεί να οδηγήσει σε μια ενδιαφέρουσα ιστορία ή εικόνα. Εσείς πόσα tabs έχετε ανοιχτά?
🧟 Στην εποχή του binging το HBO βρήκε τρόπο να σε κάνει hook στις σειρές του με τα εβδομαδιαία επεισόδια κάθε Κυριακή - είχαμε House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, τώρα The Last of Us και έρχεται η νέα σεζόν του Succession.
💀 Nurse of War
Στο Instagram ποστάρουμε συνήθως αρχειακό υλικό, παρόλαυτα το newsletter είναι μια καλή ευκαιρία για να αναδείξουμε και σύγχρονα πράγματα που μας αρέσουν.
Ε λοιπόν θα σκάσω αν δεν πω για τους Nurse of War, το πιο ακομπλεξάριστο και catchy Αθηναϊκό punk group που μου θυμίζει από Jay Reatard, Masshysteri και Wipers μέχρι Κοργιαλά.
Δεν αντέχω να έχουν τα τραγούδια τους <1000 plays οπότε πηγαίνετε ακούστε τους.
📺 Ξαναβλέπουμε το Stath Lets Flats, τo εξαιρετικό (και καμένο) sitcom του Jamie Demetriou για έναν ψιλοάμπαλο Βρετανο-Κύπριο μεσίτη που αναλαμβάνει την οικογενειακή επιχείρηση. Αν είστε φαν του βρετανικού The Office, τσεκάρετε το.
🤖 Cyborg Playlist
Στο πρόσφατο Philosophy merch drop κυκλοφορήσαμε ένα t-shirt που μίξαρε τη Λένα Πλάτωνος με το A Cyborg Manifesto της Donna Haraway - ένα καλό match αν σκεφτεί κανείς ότι το Γκάλοπ και το Μανιφέστο κυκλοφόρησαν το 1985 και πραγματεύονται θέματα τεχνολογίας και φεμινισμού.
Ένα από τα άτομα που πήρε αυτή τη μπλούζα (γειά σου Στέβη!) έφτιαξε ένα ενδιαφέρον playlist και μπορείτε να το ακούσετε εδώ.
🎺 Για κλείσιμο, ένας ανάλαφρος Ελληνικός jazz δίσκος να ακούτε στη δουλειά ή να κάνετε φλεξ στα dinner party σας από το Κουαρτέτο του master Μίμη Πλέσσα.

Ο Bruce Willis επισκέφτηκε την Ελλάδα το 2000 για το opening του Planet Hollywood Athens. Βιντεάκι εδώ από το live που έκανε με τη μπάντα του.
Ποστάραμε τα τρελά album covers του εξαιρετικού Ηπειρώτη οργανοπαίχτη Γρηγόρη Καψάλη. Εδώ ενα σόλο κλαρίνο.
30 χρόνια πριν κυκλοφόρησε το album των Αρνητική Στάση - Άγγελοι του Ψεύδους. Ακούστε το εδώ.
✍️ Mερικά που δε μπήκαν λόγω χώρου:
Τα νέα άλμπουμ των Kali Uchis, Slowthai και Yo La Tengo, το καινούργιο τρακ του Eθισμού, ο μέσος Έλληνας εφηβάκος, ο Youtuber από το Περού (με το ελληνικό όνομα) που έκανε recreate το show της Rosalia και το πολλά υποσχόμενο ντοκιμαντέρ του rap παραγωγού Beats Pliz.

💿 Discogs Rabbit Holes
You might not know it, but Greek Visions is based in London.
And as record collectors, one of our latest obsessions is to search Discogs for Greek records in the UK. This has led us down many rabbit holes.
We’ve bought many gems, but the latest one is the 1976 psych rock LP In Other Worlds by Iraklis.
🥐 Amsterdam
Last weekend we travelled to Amsterdam. There was no cycling, no weed, but we did have some chips with peanut sauce and fancy pastries from Saint-Jean.
The highlight of the trip was watching Bring Me The Horizon at the 17K capacity Ziggo Dome.
We’ve seen BMTH a few times from their deathcore years until now (either unironically or as a guilty pleasure) and their shows are always fun - their stage visuals were truly incredible this time.
📲 Organisation
I have 79 open tabs on my phone with active searches for Greek Visions. Whenever I hear of something interesting, I instantly search for it on my phone in case I come across a good story or image. How many tabs do you have open?
🧟 In the era of binging, HBO found a way to keep viewers (and subscriptions) hooked by dropping weekly episodes of their hit shows every Sunday; previously House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, currently The Last of Us and the upcoming season of Succession.
💀 Nurse of War
On Insta we usually post archival material, but this newsletter is a great way to showcase contemporary Greek things that we like as well.
One of our favourite current bands is Nurse of War, the catchy punk group which reminds us of the likes of Jay Reatard, Masshysteri and Wipers with a 2000s Greek pop twist.
Can’t stand them having <1000 plays, so go listen to them.
📺 Currently rewatching Stath Lets Flats and iykyk. Perfect comedy with Jamie Demetriou as an incompetent North London letting agent. If you’re a fan of The Office (UK), this is an absolute must.
🤖 Cyborg Playlist
In our latest Philosophy merch drop, we released a tee that blended Lena Platonos with Donna Haraway’s ‘A Cyborg Manifesto’ - a great mix if you ask me, considering that both Platonos’ Gallop and Haraway’s Manifesto were released in 1985 and explored ideas of feminism and technology.
A friend (hey Stevy!) who bought the t-shirt got inspired by it and put together this playlist, if you wanna give it a listen.
🎺 Finally, here’s a chilled Greek jazz album to listen to at work or use it as a flex for your dinner parties from the Quartet of the legendary Greek composer Mimis Plessas.

Bruce Willis visited Greece in 2000 for the opening of Planet Hollywood Athens. Here’s a vid from the gig he played there with his band, The Accelerators.
We posted some sick album covers of Greek folk clarinetist Grigoris Kapsalis. Here’s the 92 year-old maestro playing a clarinet solo.
It’s been 30 years since the release of Negative Stance's incredible hardcore punk LP 'Angels of Deceit' - give it a listen.
✍️ A few extras that didn’t make the cut:
The new albums by Kali Uchis, Slowthai and Yo La Tengo, a great new track and vid by rapper Ethismos, the ‘average Greek teen’ tiktok vids, a Youtuber from Peru (who happens to have a Greek name) who recreated Rosalia’s show, and an upcoming documentary by Rap producer Beats Pliz.
